Pro evolution and FIFA are considered the kings when it comes to football gaming. With both games always being highly anticipated people always show a great sense of urgency to find out what improvements each game will have.
Licensing
It seems the main problem that Konami (makers of PES) have had in recent years is to gain fully licensing for some main european leagues, the highlight of this is the Premier League, this results many fans in England and around the world to choose FIFA over PES. FIFA on the other hand have rights to a majority of leagues, also including second divisions for some countries.
This upcoming gaming year, PES 2011 will once again not have the rights to the English Premier League, despite this, aswell as gaining official rights to the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League in 2010, they will also feature the UEFA Super Cup and the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores sparking off a chain of fans in South America.
Gameplay improvements
FIFA who in the past have been met by criticism for minimal improvements on the previous games seem to have added a few additions for the upcoming FIFA 11.
Personality+: This is supposed to reflect each players individual attributes more resulting in a clear differentiation between players.
Pro Passing: This will mean that the gamer's accuracy in passing will reflect the actual accuracy of each pass in-game, also the accuracy will depend on the player being used in the game.
Fifa Theatre: For the first time ever in the Fifa Series, Players will be able to create their own soundtracks that can be improted into the game. Players can also create customised chants that can be imported and set to play when the players are coming on the field, at haltime, when goals are scored and at the end of a match.
Creation Centre: Players can now edit kits, names, home stadia and players on the internet and download to their console and share it with friends.
Pro Evolution Soccer who in the past generations of football games were considered the king ahead of FIFA, have struggled to match FIFA on the Next Gen Scene. This year looks very promising for PES fans as Konami have promised a much improved game with lots of new features.
Total Control: Konami are said to have improved the 360 Degree passing ratio, meaning the player will have a much higher level of control over passes, shots, throw ins, through balls, and lofted through balls. Players must weight their passes precisely and anticipate the runs that their team mates will make.
Shot and Stamina Gauge: The all new stamina gauge will detail the exact level of the players fitness. Constantly sprinting will hurt the players fitness level, this will affect the players movements and passing ability.
Speed of Play: The additional levels of control in PES 2011 allow the speed of play to change dependent on the situation of the match. For instance the game will quickly liven up when a counter attack starts. Passing will be the key aspect in PES 2011 with long runs not being as effective as in the previous games.
New Defender AI: The new defensive AI means that the defenders now stay in position and no longer chase any ball that enters their area, instead they try to close down the attacker forcing them to make a mistake.
Stadium Editor: With the stadium editor you will be able to recreate any stadium in the game, You will be able to choose the capacity, the turf style, the nets, the roofing and the tunnel placement, whether the stadium has a running track or just grass around the pitch and the distance the stands are from the pitch. There will be space to create 25 additional stadiums on top of the 25 that will be in the game by default.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011
The Italian league, French league and Dutch league are expected to be fully licensed as always, however, it is yet to be confirmed.
The Spanish league is expected to be partially licensed, at least 12 teams.
Only 2 teams from the english league will be fully licensed, Man Utd, and it is thought to be Chelsea but it is yet to be fully confirmed.

FIFA have not unveiled any information on any teams yet, but it is expected that many leagues will be fully licensed.
Some of those leagues include:
Australian League, Austrian League, Belgian League, Italian League, French League, American League, Turkish League, Swiss League, Swedish League, Spanish League, Scottish League, Russian League, Polish League, Portugese League, Norwegian League, Dutch League, Mexican League, Korean League, Irish League, German League, English League.
Also it is expected that the English, Italian, Spanish, German and French Leagues will also contain lower divisions.

i always played PES 2010 in PS3. But when i saw the the trailer for FIFA 11 and PES 2011, i think FIFA is better and more realistic. PES not improve too much in term of game play and it always look same as before. Many of my friends also suggest me to try FIFA and maybe this coming year i'll choose FIFA.. there are a lot of work for Konami need to do if they want to beat FIFA
I have always love video games but started playing PES and then later found out about FIFA and ought to try it since then i have always prefer FIFA to PES cause FIFA looks more realistic to PES. Looking at the teams FIFA is winning and also looking at the gameplay the graphics i would always prefer FIFA though i like PES but i prefer FIFA

I agree that on PC PES may prove more value for money since you can do so much with patches and mods but on console I think that FIFA 11 will still be better than PES. Most of the PES improvements are things FIFA put in last year, ad their are many improvements to FIFA not listed here like the R.E.A.L. A.I. that actually thinks ahead (like in chess) and allows the CPU to make choices based on a risk assessment of potential events. The CPU can also understand certain attacking scenarios to use skill moves at the appropriate time. And handball is an optional inclusion! I hope Konami continues with their improvements, but they can't expect to overthrow FIFA in one year, it needs to be a sustained campaign over the next half a decade.
I've always been a pes fan on the ps2 and ps3. i love the master league especially. this yr they r gonna have online master leagues, so that's a plus. however, im starting to get tired of having to rummage through the internet for hrs to find edited patches for it. the limited amount of lisenced teams in pes is starting to piss me off. still, pes should be a good game
pes is booring, espicially in Master League, hard work to transfer player.
I prefer PES series, because it focus on the gameplay more than anything else.

i have to admit i never knew anything about pes till a couple of years ago. seeing all the licensing problems pes have i have to say the gameplay must be great for some people to choose it over fifa. for me though fifa FTW!!!

Meanwhile, the PES 2010 Master League was far from boring, in fact it is the one thing that appeals most to the fans and it was free from bugs, unlike FIFA 10's Manager Mode/Career Mode.
On a negative note, the player transfers were a little far fetched, and it was damn near impossible to sign someone you wanted in the transfer market, without a top-level scout and 100,000,000 euros at hand.
On the gameplay front, one thing that everyone agrees with, (even FIFa fans) is that PES has a greater variety of goals to score and on a graphics note, better detail to the kits and skin textures.
Anyway both FIFA & PES make for good competition and that is no bad thing. It sporns evolution and advancement with football(soccer) gaming technology and game engines. Long shall there be at least two companies making our beautiful game!!!!!!!

i don't believe that pes has any real weakness,nevertheless i think that konami should start to take the situation more serious because i can't believe that a company like KONAMI doesn't have the money or the budget to buy the licsences from the top leagues across the world..however the PES still the KING..!!! when i buy ps3 they gave me the fifa..I took it and i through it to the bin..
To Panos: We both know that FIFA10 is way better than PES10 and even the guys from KONAMI realised that too. That's why PES11 is going to be a totally different game than the older ones.
There is going to be a lot more freedom in moving, passing, throwing and shooting. Finally... I'm a FIFA fan but now i've seen the mobility that KONAMI is trying to give.., i don't know. FIFA always had some more difficulty in the game, but i think that if you really want to be the best in soccergames you have to buy PES. It's not about learning some basic situations anymore, just about your instinct in the game of soccer.

you gotta find for yaself whats best for you. i dont care if my team is named manshuster united or manchester whatever, all i care about is the sport itself. and thats why i choose pes before fifa. im not riding any superstars d**ks, in fact, i even wouldn care if there were only aliens on the field. i wanna have great soccer moments and only pes delivers unique moments while fifa only gives me same goals over and over and over again.
Which one is better to play online mode?
i have been a loyal pes fan since the first pes, i used to like it considerably to fifa football up until fifa 10, where a friend gave me the game and i started to like it very very much and i tried going back to pes 2011, but after playing both demos mmmmmm.... i think fifa 11 does it for me. sorry konami!
I'm a pes fan for about 10 years(playstation 1--->3). The last fifa i played was fifa 2000. A week ago,when my friend argued with me about which is the best football simulator (fifa or pes), I played the fifa 11 demo and I impressed. I have to admmit that the game is absolutely amazing! I don't care about license or the master league, I do care about realism and fifa 11 is far more realistic than pes 11. I will definately quit pes for fifa...
Playing both demos right now and it's very hard...i've been a pes fan since iss and haven't played fifa since road to the world cup 98, but the new fifa is very good.
Gameplay has improved on pes but i'm blown away by the realistic features of fifa 11, i feel like a husband playing away if i buy fifa so i've concluded to have both a wife:pes 2011 and a mistress:fifa 11 , will i9 get caught out?
I played fifa 2000, and than moved on to PES, i was much more interested in gameplay itself, than on graphics. The one thing that i always loved mora about PES is the more variaty of goals that you can score. But i gotta tell ya, after giving a shot to FIFA 11 demo, it just seems more FUN! I will buy the one that offers better online experience...

Before concluding which is better,ask about whether are you a hardcore online gamer.If yes then you have to give up about PES better game play because EA smooth server is what you needed to enjoy the game.
Is like you buy a one million car.PES looks good but performance are craps.You rather one looks not too good but have smooth performance.
Unless you decided to play offline only then PES is the game.
I have played fifa for a long time and also pes but in 2004 i dicaided to only buy pes becouse then more you play pes then more you get adicted evrybody just admited PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER is the best fifa you cant play more then 2 seasons and then it gets boring but in pes you can play until you die and whey do you think the best player in the world (Messi) is on the cover for pes and not the fifa becouse fifa is for fun and pes is for people who lives, eats, and sleps soccer ( THE REAL SOCCER FAN ALWAYS CHOSES PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER ) and you now it.

Used to be a hardcore PES man however Fifa 10 (and perhaps 09) changed all that. Played both PES 11 & Fifa 11 demos and can see where both have improved. Difference is I played one game of PES 11 and was shocked at how far ahead Fifa 11 is, and Fifa 10 for that matter. Control and reaism are far far superior in Fifa 11 than PES 11. PES is still agood game but all credit to Fifa and EA for turning around a turd and making not only Fifa but their company far more respectable.
Was originally a PES fan up until fifa 09 and been playing fifa ever since but now find most games and goals are the same on fifa and find it boring.. ive played demos for pes 2011 and fifa 11 and pes looks better and appears to play better.. i think a change is due
Although PES does have some good points to it I will remain a FIFA player probably forever. A soccer game is seriously lacking something if you cant even play/manage in the most competetive domestic league in the world, the EPL.

Having played both demos, having been a PES fan on PS2 and a FIFA fan on Xbox 360, I have to say I'm torn. The gameplay in PES seems far, far more realistic than FIFA, the ball feels natural - in FIFA it just seems to stick to a player's foot. But Konami's presentation, licenced leagues, online etc still lag way behind FIFA. I don't feel FIFA 11 has moved on much from FIFA 10, and wonder whether it is worth purchasing for such small steps forward, at the same time, wonder whether playing PES on a console, with no proper premier league is asking too much!
i think pes is just the best now with master league online im looking foward to playing it. fifa to is ok i like the game play but enough exciting lincencing for example pro champions league europa cup and super cup these thing excite you not just boring league you see every year
I just wonder how come there are so many people supporting FIFA... would that due to the fact, FIFA at PC is totally differ from FIFA at Xbox?
As I always play my game at PC, the PC version of FIFA simply look bad in graphic, poor ball reaction. To me, the graphic of PES simply wins it all, perhaps the only thing FIFA win, would be their player movements, it does look more realistic.
In fact, for both game, the manager or season mode, they are both far from realistic. Perhaps this leave rooms for football manager games? Especially for FIFA, having one sponsor a year, for some lower division team, even you win the FA Cup or the League club, you didn't earn an extra penny. Wasn't it too unrealistic?
For PES, player can do multi-changes to the game, even adding teams, leagues, make all teams to be licensed, (as long as you willing to commit your time on it)
Anyone who says FIFA is better because of licences doesn't know anything. PES can't get them because FIFA already has it and under EPL rules, without licence, no one else can get over 10% of l EPL licences and thats why there are only two teams every year licenced. As for gameplay, PES is more realistic though FIFA could be more fun online.
Both fifa and pes are good games and both have weaknesses and strenght. Because you can see fifa has better graphis, alot of leagues lienced, and they have great feautures like become a pro it is realistic. Great commertating. And the weaknesses of ifa r that the plays are tiny some how. and also players like messi and cristiano roaldo are very fast in really life but in the
game you can barrely beat a defender with speed.
Now pes is a good gams for those who like tall players like real life. but they don't have enough money to lience all the leagues and the commertating its borring. I use to like pes but after i found out about fifa i hated pes.
I prefer fifa but i am not saying that fifa is perfect games but fifa is the better games. fifa can still use some new features like the uefa champions league , eurapa league like pro evalution if fifa can get that they have more custumers then ever before. One of the key reason people buy pes is because they have the champions league and the eurapa league

Fifa is the better of the two. Firstly look at the gameplay, PES needs 2 improve on that. I playd Pes and found out that when you run with the ball, the ball sticks to your feet, even if you're using a low skilled player. In fifa, you can see the difference. Fifa players are more flexible. Secondly, Become a legend is...ok better than Be a pro on fifa. Manager/carreer mode is better than master league, manager mode is a bit more realistic. Third of all, licenses! Fifa is way ahead of pes here, in fifa, you have a lot of teams to choose from, whilst in Pes you have less than ...what? Fifteen leagues? Pathetic. Konami might have eufa champions league and europa league but fifa has a lot more cups like the F.A cup, the Spanish cup and all the other domestic cups of every league in the game, need I say more? PES has more variety in terms of what you can do with the game, like changing a player's hairstyle, etc. But if you look at annual improvements, PES improves on what fifa improved last year. Sorry PES and Konami, fifa is just too good.

Fifa only looks good with its tricks and flair. PRO might not have all the real team names but it does have real gameplay..it plays like a football match. Fifa plays more like ping pong. I must admit that since PRO has hit the playstation 3 its had its problem with glitches. So lets see if they have fixed that..if so PRO is back..! You know what to do Zesh..!!
all the pes fans here seems bitter and bent all their hope on PES 11 to give them some sort of salvation since pes 2006. im posting to say that you guys are seriously in denial and brand loyalty is the dumbest thing a consumer could ever do.
i have to say that ive played the demo for both games and to be honest, fifa 11 on console gave me a huge wow factor because i could actually feel how refined the gameplay has become.
mean while on pes 11. it plays better than last year but so different, i like the neat animations improvement from pes this year but the things i hate about it is the gameplay is too slow, players still runs like the fictional Santiago Munez from the movie GOAL!
the shooting is satisfying but UNREALISTIC. for an instance, a star player can rocket the ball with little momentum. i find it funny.
and what really grind my gears is that moving from one end of the pitch to another is painfully slow while fifa 11 feels more like a real pro football game where pes is like a pub game full of beer belly mid 40s dads.
that being said, fifa 11 isnt perfect but it is still better than pes 11 in almost everyway, i know its only demos but im talking about the gameplay engine so my rants are totally valid.
if you guys are planning on getting pes 11 this year then you're missing out a lot. i dont understand how people can love pes.
konami is a japanese based developer/publisher and you should understand the trend by now, in japan, they recycle their games with minor tweaks and little efforts and call it a sequal. take a look at dynasty warriors from koei for proof and look at pes 2006-2010 to validate the trend.

I played both demo's 3-4 times and i scored 2 or 3 goals in FIFA each game...i still havent scored in PES. And I ve been playing PES for 6-7 years...
After buying Fifa 10 for PS3 i haven't been able to play any of my friends online. I don't have problems for any other game and i've tried all the port forwarding etc. Unless Fifa have fixed this and the connectivity for head to head matches i will either stick with Fifa 10 or switch to PES.
pes was so much better than fifa b4 the ps3 was out. is it me or hav konami just given up on designing great ps3 games?
i use to be a die hard pro fan back in the day on ps2 until fifa 09 came out on the ps3. it seemed that pro wasn't changing for me so i give fifa 09 a try n i was like wow this is really good ever since then i've being playing fifa. i've played both pes 2011 and fifa 11 demos and personally there both good. i do know that the fifa 11 gameplay on the demo is not final so all the people that thinks thats the final gameplay it isn't cause its a demo. fifa is getting better cause there listening to what fans want as where pro there not. i think they should just make a game together because it be alot easier when coming to choose each year lol.
I have always been a pro fan and have bought every single pro thats come out, but wasn't too impressed with last years one, but i have got to say this years oe looks very very good. It isn't as good as Pro 2 or 4 but is much better than the last 3 and is better than fifa this year.
I was always a FIFA Fan but then tried PES and stopped playing FIFA until PES 10 and FIFA 10... had them both and hardley touche the PES... now hooked on Fifa again... PES was a big let down in 2010 compare to the awesome 2009... Fifa 11 looking good too.

I was always a PES fan and ev1 has to admit that in the last few years fifa became a game the could be mastered easily not to forget that it doesnt offer alot of variety to score goals and freekicks are just too damn easy to score, and goal keepers were gods in 1 on 1 make impossible saves u never felt the difference between sm1 like Cech and sm1 like Almunia.As for be a pro its practicaly stupid in fifa when ever u ask for the ball u direcly recieve u easily make the national team........ Pes was the master u can score from free kicks distant shots dribble .... It was more realistic
But i have to admit i saw fifa 11 and i bought it and for the first time i see fifa blowing pes to the ground its very realistic though i didnt like be a legend mode still very unreal but the gameplay is terrific the way the players move dribble how they create space its a fantastic game to play
FIFA 11 Kicks ass, the gameplay is wayyy to slow on PES, shots don't curl, players pace is not truly resembled to real life. If you people like wasting your money buy PES. I know where money will be oing today!
Fifa 11 Sucks its the same game as before I have been playing PES since Psoccer 5 and hav not looked back however tried playing fifa 09 and 10 quite frankly both games sucked fifa 11 dont make me laugh u fifa Wankers are a total joke. Pro soccer d best and far more realistic.

FIFA only looks good the gameplay is disgusting..iv lost count on how many times iv watched my mates lob the keeper from inside the box. PRO is a mans game which takes alot of talent and skill to play and once you get the passing going it plays like a real football game.
A 6 year old could pick up a copy of Fifa and be able to play with ease.... I rest my case....!

I love pes because it makes you work so much harder than fifa. its hard to buy plyers in mater league. In fifa your team is the best in one season and plyers grow even if you dont play them. Become a legend 4get it pes is the best. they just need to get team licencing. But if pes and Fifa combine the best football game would be made

i m a pes fan..and both pes and fifa has advantages over each other..i dnt kno how can u guys say that fifa has better graphics than pes.Fifa's graphics is pretty poor as compared to pes.The most important(and awesome) advantage of fifa is referee and commentary.the decisions made are unbelievable.its soo realistic..Pes sucks in case of referee(especially pes 2010).its improved in 2011.but not perfect.In fifa its 99% perfect.i like the gameplay of fifa but its not that bad in pes too.If we look at the game play,both of them are almost same.
Now come the crosses,in pes its more realistic than fifa..fifa alomst sucks in case of crosses.players wait like robots when the ball is in air.

I am playing FIFA11 in PC and I assure you FIFA10 is far better than it. The "in game" Graphics in FIFA10 is far better however the FIFA11 exceeded in cinematics. The controls of FIFA10 even FIFA09 was far better than FIFA11. There are no new teams and no new leagues in FIFA11. So buying it will be total waste of money. This time I will try PES.
Queued for fifa at midnight when it was released. i have played the game and i must say i dont like it, it is no where near as good as fifa 10 or fifa world cup. It has taken a massive step backwords. The gameplay is terrible the passing does not go where u want it to go, the cant take players on, the game is slow, u get closed down to easily and the defenders win everything which is not realistic at all.
The only aspect of the game that is realistic is the strips.
I have had every PES/ISS pro since it was first released on ps1 and up until last year it was the better game of the 2, but fifa 10 and world cup where superb and pes2010 was just balls. but looks like pes has got its crown back.

Having tested both out, I reckon its a 3-0 win for FIFA on the next gen football sims. Since 2009, PES has looked tired and outdated. Their latest offering IS an improvement on the disappointing efforts of these previous years but FIFA is still the winner. Lets hope Konami can do better in 2012.
FIFA has too much credit for nothing, if you played PES 05 and FIFA 05 you will realise that FIFA has copied a lot of features from PES. The thing is FIFA is well marketed and has licences, most people support FIFA because the got used to it before knowing PES. PES is better in everything it just needs rights. Comparing FIFA and PES is like comparing Linux and windows most people are used to windows while linux is also good..

I have played both games in every year and if u watch real football matches then there is no doubt that PES is way more reaslistic than FIFA and PES has those youth teams and stuff in master league which makes is way more interesting than FIFA manager mode,but PES 2011 has got it wrong a bit because they've tried to make it more realistic with manual through balls and passes without thinking about the PC fans because there has always been a slight lag in game play in PES.u press pass and takes about 1/4 of a second before its executed.So with out automatic through balls and passing PC users will suffer in PES 2011.
many people does not like PES because it is too real.U cnt score in 30/40 yard, u cnt buy CR with stoke city, u cnt comment ur teammate run forward, u cnt score 4 to 5 goal every match.But u can do those thing in FIFA. PES is a better game but it is too hard to handle.It realy need 100% concentration to play it but in FIFA u can simply use through pass and simply score 3 to 4 goal that is completely same, it was easy! For me, i prefer PES because PES give u surprise in everytimes u score a goal.PES look so real in the gameplay and there are alway a limit for the player.

Personally I prefer Fifa 2011, but only on PS3 because the PC version is rubbish (improved but still rubbish). The choice between these two titles would depend on what a person likes in a football game...arcade vs simulation?
If you want Simulation, realism, certainly Fifa 2011 - including leagues, players, etc. Also tactically Fifa 2011 is better, it feels very tactically realistic (especially compared to fifa10). Having said that, there are still a few bugs...like defenders playing offside trap and forgetting about the opposition forwards. I have also seen an offside from kickoff??? Bug...
Arcade style football, entertaining moves and all, more variation to goals scored only because tactically, the games arent as tight as in Fifa. In my opinion, its just too open; but then again passes are harder and turns etc.
So I guess it depends on what style of football you like to play? I will go for Fifa cos tactically its better for me. Realism and gameplay are quite equal. Then again pes has champs league...big +factor...

Been a Fan of PES for YEars, since its early beginnings on the N64 in the form of ISS64. Caned PEs on the PS1 and PS2, however, as always I downloaded both PES and FIFA this year and also tried both games in store before buying, normally to reassure myself that PES is way better. WTF, Konami have ruined the game this year and unfortunately FIFA is the better game.

Sorry Folks, I'm ashamed of myself this year, I have opted to buy FIFA 11 as it is a more complete game. Fact, you can no longer tap the shoot button and score 40 yard rippers anymore. Player movement and controller response is more sharper, you have to measure every pass and shot for power and accuaracy (Tip, remove the pass and shoot options folks).
Fingers crossed PES 2012 sorts itself out but I think FIFA has taken the crown this year, at least in my opinion it has.

I am a PES and FIFA player since I know my mind.
PES is more realistic, it's more like a football game. It needs more practice to score in PES than in FIFA.
Graphics is good in both, it's a draw for me.
FIFA has better commentary, menus and user interface.
Overall, FIFA has better marketing.
FIFA is much of a lighter "let's sit down for a quick match with friends" type of game, and that is done good.
I don't care about licensing, I care about good gameplay. And PES has it.
Overall, both has it's advantages, but PES is a better football game no doubt.

Let me tell you won think, that the PES 2011 is 78% same to PES 2010, but FIFA 11 is 80% different from FIFA 10.
And one thing more that the FIFA 11 has copied and cheated some features from PES 10, so in case the PES 2011 has defeated FIFA 11 in Compability graphics and Gameplay. So, I am in the favour of PES.

I like fifa better. First of all fifa is more realistic if you have actually watched a soccer match before. Have both fifa 11 and pes 11 and have to admit the game modes are more fun on fifa and the goalie is so much more realistic in fifa 11. IN fifa 11 you can control your shot better you have accurate player ratings.

I dont agree with the comments which say that PES feels more like an arcade game. I think that its the other way around. Fifa looks great but it is blunt. Pes feels like and gives me the emotions as if watching a real game.

I was a huge PES fan in the past when I first started with PES4. The online gaming mode was the best and at its hight, since then they have dropped in the "online" mode starting from PES5!. You will not find a player that "doesnt lag" in PES nowadays (I have PES 2010) unless he/she is from the same country no matter what your internet connection speed is !. The game will lag whatsoever! unlike FIFA which I used to hate alot in the past but when I tried FIFA 10 it was awsome and the online gaming is unbeatable. I will never buy PES anymore unless I hear good news about their online game play after they improve their servers.
My background is that I've been playing PES religiously for the last 15years, my main turn-off from FIFA back then was that the players ran about at an odd angle looking like characters in a 70s Chinese Kung Fu movie.
However since after doing 25 seasons on PES5 I've been forced to play around with other games including FIFA06, 07, 08 and 09. PES simply became static.
I've played FIFA 11 and PES 2011 and my first impressions were that FIFA 11 is simply terrific. One goal I scored with Ibrahimovic still brings a smile to my face till today.
I thought PES 2011 was rather quirky, and compared to the lush graphics, commentary, sound effects and official teams available in FIFA I felt PES stood no chance.
The guy at the Blockbuster counter even said the same thing, he is a converted PES Fan too.
But that was just the demo.
When I got the full PES2011 game it was miles apart from the demo. Nothing is guranteed, you have to make the move come off and sometimes it came off spectacularly.
As some guys have said here, with FIFA 11 I could beat Real Madrid3-0 by halftime using Arsenal.
With the PES 2011, in 12 Champions League Round 1 games using Barcelona I have only managed a single win, by 1-0 against D. Zagreb.
In gameplay the new FIFA 11 has all the footwork skills and moves, but with the PES you can actually feel the players thinking their way out of a situation. In one game I played 20 mins (in-game clock) the ball did not go out of play and no shots on goal, it is intense.
That's another big problem with FIFA since the very early versions, when the ball is played towards the touchline it will always invariably roll out of play. They don't seem to have grasped this all these years.
My friends, I have to say the PES is back.
Yes, in the beginning FIFA 11 is great and feels a lot better that the PES.
But, there is no need to argue, if you love a football game all you have to do is play the PES every now and then for a week then you will understand.

I like PES much more. FIFA players still seem like zombies whose legs, necks, heads turn into impossible positions. PES needs to include more teams only. The creativity PES gives and the variation of beautiful goals just beat FIFA. I am sorry I have bought FIFA 11.

i have always been a PES fan.I didn't care about the licences,cause FIFA's gameplay was way worse than PES'.But now,FIFA has gameplay+licences,so...i think im going with FIFA this year.
Here's how it went for me:
Bought Pro Evo and didn't enjoy it. Too slow to load, and the lack of real team names irritated me even though I knew it shouldn't.
So off I go and buy Fifa 11. What a downgrade. :( It was so much worse! The gameplay is stale and boring. I was sick of it after 5 matches. And it's one of the most hideous games I've played recently.
So I'm back on Pro Evo now. It's nowhere near perfect but it is the lesser of two evils be a country mile.
I bought fifa 11 and pes 11 purely because i love football games and i have to say at first i was a put off by pes 11 because they only had two official teams but then i had so much fun fixing the other teams badges,names and strips that i got over it. That aside pes has much better game play and graphics. Loves fifas new chant mode but thats about it.

I'm a big PES fan but I was very disappointed with the new version of PES 2011, its horrible, in my opinion PES 2010 was a lot better, so for those who are wondering which is better Fifa or PES? FIFA is the overall better game with better gameplay mechanics than PES. The players seem to play better or worse depending on the tempo of the game and the biggest thing is that FIFA has a lot of licensed teams. Advantages that PES has is the mind blowing graphics they players almost look real and they have the EUFA Champions League. But even so how do you manage to make the Champions League fun when half the teams aren't licensed it just makes the presentation of the game look bad.
PES is going to have to step up if they want to beat FIFA
the only thing that FIFA is missing is the Chamions League and the Super Cup otherwise its a near perfect game to play

Have played both demos for PES and FIFA and trust me PES 11 is a phenomenal game. Complete control over the players and the overall gameplay is amazing. FIFA still has the usual delayed passes and delayed shots etc etc. Tackling is not up to much either. FIFA has the biggest advertisment campaign so clearly its going to sell more copies but I purchase games over the gameplay not because most people are buying FIFA. Like I say to all the haters when they say FIFA is the biggest selling football game is the bible is also the biggest selling book :)

Yes i agree that Fifa has better game modes and licensing but they still have to improve on the Gameplay specially slide tackles unlike pro it reflects the physical nature of real soccer and action

I am a pro evolution fan. I first started playing this game when I saw its gameplay at a friend's house. Impressed, I bought the game and have been playing pes since then. For the PC version I hav always seen PES superior but when I played fifa 9 demo on xbox 360, it really made me think Fifa is a better game. EA hav made a totally different game for xbox 360 compared to PC, and now developing on the game and correcting the mistakes, I think FIFA will go far ahead than PES. PES, as I saw the PES 2011 gameplay on youtube, hav tried d same but they actually hav completely destroyed d game. The completely different gameplay of PES which required skill and creativity has been lost. More or less, Konami this time hav tried to make it like FIFA. The feelong of PES is gone. The best soccer game ever I think would be made when both the teams of Konami and EA combine together
